The History of Gtechniq

Dissatisfied with the performance of car and yacht care products that he was selling into SE Asia and the manufacturer’s inability and unwillingness to invest in R&D, Dr Drew Gill utilizes his knowledge gained from his PhD in Quantum Physics to develop C1 Crystal Lacquer and forms Gtechniq.

Gtechniq land’s its first substantial contract to detail and protect the world’s largest fleet of Rolls-Royces belonging to The Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong.  All vehicles were polished and protected with Gtechniq P1 Nanocomposite Polish &  C1 Crystal Lacquer.

Rob Earle buys the European rights for Gtechniq and sets up their first European HQ in King’s Langley in the United Kingdom. At this stage, Gtechniq had 7 products namely, C1 Crystal Lacquer, C3 Smart Carnauba, P1 Nanocomposite Polish, a set of polishing pads and MF1 Microfibre Cloth.

Gtechniq launches its first E-commerce site with a much-expanded product line of 20 products including the addition of C4 Permanent Trim Restorer, C5 Wheel Armour, L1 Leather Guard, C2 Liquid Crystal and I1 Smart Fabric.

The Gtechniq Accredited Detailer network was launched. Our first ever Accredited Detail centre, Ultimate Finish opens next to Brands Hatch race circuit.

The phone call no owner ever wants to get. At 3 am on the 29th of September 2012 Rob receives a phone call from his landlord telling him to come quickly as there’s a fire that has started at his premises. By the time Rob arrives the whole building is completely lost together with all stock and production equipment.

Gtechniq North America launches at the annual SEMA show. Gtechniq North America, based in Atlanta Georgia becomes an increasing presence in the North American Detailing industry with a fast uptake in its Accredited Detailer programme.

Crystal Serum Ultra launched at SEMA 2017. This new and improved formula is the direct result of a huge R&D push to synthesise a new 7nm nanoparticle to infill the gaps between the pre-existing 20nm nanoparticle. This gives a major improvement in the hardness and chemical resistance of the cured film.

Gtechniq launches the all-new Marine Line. This line includes Ceramic Base and Ceramic Top offering a three-year guarantee. Other notable products include Fabric Coat that offers unrivalled waterproofing as well as mould and mildew protection and the word’s first hose-on protection, Rinse-On Ceramic.
